Our team will be staying at the Calvary Chapel base camp in Sendai. Working collaboratively with the local Christian teams, we will be handing out food, clothes, toiletries, and bibles while sharing the Gospel of Jesus through worship settings or one-on-one conversations. The team will also assist in cleaning out mud-filled homes and assist with miscellaneous minor repairs. The team will leave on August 9th and return to Sacramento on August 20th. Japan is 16 hours ahead of Sacramento time.
Japan has approximately 9 million people, however less than 1% of the population is Christian. Majority of the nation adhere to either Buddhism or Shintoism.
The following prayers are requested:
- Continued personal safety and health of all team members and their families.
- Provisions for any outstanding financial needs.
- Traveling mercies over all air and ground transportation systems to and from Japan.
- Protection from any further natural disasters.
- Selfless love and grace between members sharing tight quarters at the Sendai base camp.
- God's love would supersede all cultural and language barriers, and govern all interactions with the other international team members.
- A fresh outpouring of God's Holy Spirit on the team as they step out of their comfort zones to share God's love with those in need.
- The team would daily remain open and flexible to God's leading.
- God would use each one to bring many to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.
